Here at Dystopian Dance Party, we pride ourselves on our eclecticism. But as diverse as our tastes may be, we still have our biases: namely, a shared love for big, dumb, testosterone-laden rap and rock music, very little of which is created by women. Coming from a couple of self-professed feminists, this is obviously embarrassing; so, starting tomorrow, we’re making up for lost time. Every weekday in March, we’re sharing some of our favorite songs by and about women, Jheri Curl June style, with accompanying playlists on Spotify and YouTube. Don’t get us wrong: we know that this is, quite literally, the least we can do. But if we can help the feminist cause even the slightest bit by taking a month off from talking about the Ying Yang Twins, then by god, we’ll do it. Get ready for a long-overdue shot of estrogen, folks: it’s Women’s History Month on Dystopian Dance Party. See you tomorrow!
Dystopian Dance Party
Dystopian Dance Party was founded in 2014 by brother and sister Zach and Callie in order to indulge our mutual interests in 1980s R&B music, radio rap, bad movies, and blathering about our opinions. It’s a space where we write/talk about whatever we want, however obscure or pointless, with little to no regard for a potential audience.
